CME: Mental Health and COVID: Evidence-based Strategies

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant negative impact on millions of Americans. This program will summarize some of these effects, particularly in the areas of depression, anxiety and substance abuse.  Evidence-based pharmacologic options to treat anxiety and depression in this context will be presented. The session will conclude by examining the current state of evidence supporting the use of complementary and alternative medicine approaches to treat depression and anxiety.

  1. Assess the impact of Covid on mental health
  2. Review the evidence base for complementary and alternative medicine approaches in depression
  3. Interpret when and how to prescribe specific medications for depression
