Belleruth Naparstek ACSW is a clinical social worker, guided imagery pioneer, and traumatic stress expert, who maintained her psychotherapy practice for over 30 years. She is widely credited with getting guided imagery and meditation into major health care institutions at a time it was still somewhat suspect. She has created 68 guided imagery audio programs targeting specific health problems, psychological challenges and medical procedures; and authored 3 books – Staying Well with Guided Imagery, a primer on guided imagery for health and wellness; Your Sixth Sense, an exploration of the nature of intuition and deploying guided imagery to develop it; and the award winning Invisible Heroes,; Survivors of Trauma and How They Heal, on using guided imagery to remediate posttraumatic stress. Her work is used by the Veteran's Administration and all branches of the US Armed Services. In 1991 she founded Health Journeys, a leading producer and distributor of guided imagery and meditation programs that deliver direct healing, relaxation and wellness experiences, at the screen or on an app or listening device. She also serves on the faculty of the University of Arizona’s Center for Integrative Medicine.
