Elizabeth Boham MD, MS, RD
Dr. Elizabeth Boham MD, MS, RD, is Board Certified in Family Medicine from Albany Medical School and an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner. In addition, she has her undergraduate degree in nutritional biochemistry from Cornell University and her graduate degree and Registered Dietitian from Columbia University. Dr. Boham joined Dr. Mark Hyman and The UltraWellness Center team in 2007 and is currently the Medical Director at the UltraWellness Center. Prior to that she practiced integrative medicine at Canyon Ranch in Lenox (MA), and was a practicing physician and partner with Albany (NY) Clinical Nutrition Specialists. Dr. Boham learned how difficult it can be to navigate through the health-care system, after being diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 30. Through Functional Medicine, she has realized how important it is to evaluate all of the systems in the body to discover the underlying cause for dysfunction.
Dr. Boham lectures on a variety of topics, including Women’s Health and Breast Cancer Prevention, Nutrition Assessment, Functional Medicine / Functional Nutrition, insulin resistance, heart health, weight control and allergies. She is an educator for the Institute for Functional Medicine and has developed the functional nutrition course that is being used to educate physicians and other health professionals worldwide. Dr. Boham has contributed to many articles and wrote a chapter on the Functional Medicine Approach for Obesity for the 9th edition of the Rankel Textbook of Family Medicine. Her DVD Breast Wellness: Tools to Prevent and Heal from Breast Cancer explores the Functional Medicine approach to keeping your breasts and whole body well. Dr. Boham has been featured on the Dr Oz Show and in a variety of magazines, books and other media. Through her practice and lecturing, she has helped thousands of people achieve their goals of optimum health and wellness.
