Biography

Dr. Hedy Wald is Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University, Faculty; Harvard Medical School Pediatrics Leadership Program, and Commissioner; Lancet Commission on Medicine and the Holocaust. She was a Fulbright Specialist Scholar in medical education for Ben Gurion University of Health Sciences, Israel and has been a Visiting Professor at over 90 health professions, schools and organizations world-wide, presenting lectures and workshops on promoting resilience, wellbeing, and flourishing in health professions education, practice, and leadership, using guided reflective writing-enhanced reflection to support professional identity formation, The “power of narrative,” and Legacy of medicine and the Holocaust. Dr. Wald speaks internationally and publishes on her cancer caregiver experience, including being invited to speak for the National Cancer Policy Forum of the National Academies of Medicine in Washington, D.C. on the family perspective.  Her creative writing, reviews, and poetry have appeared in literary and medical journals and her work has been cited in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, LA Times, Chicago Tribune, Medical Independent (Ireland), and Jerusalem Post.
