Lila E. Nachtigall, M.D. Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology New York University School of Medicine New York, New York Education: Dr. Nachtigall received her medical degree, internship in medicine, residency in internal medicine and fellowship in endocrinology at Bellevue Hospital Center (part of New York University Medical Center). Professional background: A faculty member at the New York University School of Medicine since 1961, Dr. Nachtigall is currently a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is also an Attending at Bellevue Hospital Center and Tisch Hospital (both part of New York University Medical Center). Dr. Nachtigall’s prior appointments include Director of the Gynecologic Endocrinology Outpatient Services at Bellevue Hospital Center and Co-Director of Reproductive Endocrinology at Tisch Hospital. Throughout her career, Dr. Nachtigall has won several regional and national awards, including the Achievement Award in Women’s Health from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, The Award for Excellence from New York University Medical Center. 2004 NAMS/Novo Nordisk Vaginal Health Research Award and 2008 NAMS/Bayer Healthcare ET/EPT Research Award from The North American Menopause Society. 2009 James Platt White Memorial Award. Areas of research or special interest: Dr. Nachtigall’s major research is focused on all aspects of menopause including bone and clotting factors. Publications overview: Dr. Nachtigall has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and has contributed to several books and multimedia presentations on menopausal issues. She is Editor-in-Chief of International Perspectives on Menopause Management and serves on the editorial boards of several other publications, including Menopause. She is also a reviewer for such journals as the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Journal of the American Medical Association. Societies or other affiliations: Dr. Nachtigall is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, The American Women’s Medical Association, and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. She is a past president of both the North American Menopause Society and the Bellevue Obstetrical and Gynecological Society.
