Dr. Lorilee Schoenbeck ND directs Mountain View Natural Medicine, a naturopathic physician-led Patient Centered Medical Home in Burlington, VT. From 2002-2012, She spear-headed legislative changes in Vermont that brought NDs into mainstream health reform efforts. Today, patients can access naturopathic physicians as their primary care doctor. NDs are fully covered by insurance including Medicaid, and eligible to lead advanced primary care practices known as medical homes. Through this model, naturopathic physicians now lend their skills at experts in natural medicine to primary health care iniatives. The model Dr. Schoenbeck created at her clinic, is recognized nationally as an example of a primary care clinic which has maximized the provisions within the Affordable Care Act to provide integrative medicine to the general public. As part of the care plan determined with their ND, Mountain View’s 3000 primary care patients can also access acupuncture, nutrition consultations, social work, health coaching, Reiki, hypnotherapy, or health eating classes through the clinic’s Community Health Team or CHT. CHT services are offered to patients free, or with a $20 copay, through funds established as part of Vermont’s Patient Centered Medical Home program. Dr. Schoenbeck has also served as Chair of State and Federal Affairs on the Board of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians. She is an author, an Adjunct Professor at Northern Vermont University, and currently serves as Vice President of the Vermont Association of Naturopathic Physicians. When not working, she's gardening, swing dancing, doing yoga or hiking with her labrador Bella.
