Dr. Heidi Weinhold will present natural modalities that will help to balance the side effects and enable patients to tolerate the demands of completing conventional treatment. She will also discuss integrating natural modalities to provide enhanced effectiveness to conventional treatment.
Dr. Weinhold will discuss the use of evidence-based botanical and targeted nutritional supplementation. She will review the research for incorporating Fermented Wheat Germ Extract, Medicinal Mushrooms, Active Hexose Correlated Compound (AHCC), Astragalus membranaceus, and cucumin. She will focus on the mechanisms of action, human clinical research for various tumor types and include references. All of the human clinical studies that will be discussed in this presentation were done in conjunction with standard of care therapies. The goal is to help enhance survival and quality of life for people living with cancer through the integration of naturopathic medicine into cancer care.
Homeopathic medicine is a highly effective component of integrative cancer treatment. It is relevant from the moment of diagnosis as well as ongoing stages of treatment. Homeopathic medicine has a low risk of side effects because it is micro dosed. Incorporating homeopathy is a cost-effective, low risk adjunct treatment. This presentation will focus on how to safely incorporate homeopathy into peri-surgical protocols as well as review homeopathic medicines to help reduce anticipatory anxiety, skin irritation from radiation treatments, nausea, fatigue, and pain.
Medical professionals are becoming more comfortable with homeopathy but they aren’t familiar with dosing. Dr. Weinhold will review the available evidence to support integrating this effective and gentle modality into the conventional treatment paradigm to make medical practitioners more comfortable using, recommending, and dosing homeopathy in clinical practice. Participants will be provided with a homeopathic dosing chart. Dr. Weinhold will share case studies and some clinical pearls that can be implemented into clinical practice. Dr. Weinhold received her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Sonoran University. Her alma mater honored her in 2017 with an Honorary Doctorate of Human Letters. She has the experience of twenty years in clinical practice. Dr. Weinhold has become a frequent guest presenter on Naturopathy throughout North America.
Session Learning Objectives:
1.) Evaluate the literature demonstrating that incorporating homeopathic Arnica and Bellis perennis in Peri-Surgical Protocols can be used to reduce drain removal time by 18%, decrease pain, reduce opioid intake and seroma formation, and can potentially improve survival and quality of life for patients living with breast cancer.
2.) Analyze the mechanisms of action for curcumin, Astragalus, and fermented wheat germ extract and discover how these natural agents can help improve treatment outcomes for patients living with cancer.
3.) Develop insights into the fundamentals on how homeopathy can be used as a non-pharmacologic approach for pain relief and discover how homeopathic medicines can alleviate joint pain and stiffness associated with aromatase inhibitors.
