He completed training as a physician acupuncturist and has practiced medical acupuncture for almost 20 years. He was among the first recipients of the Bravewell Scholarship for Integrative Medicine and completed a two-year Fellowship at the University of Arizona Program in Integrative Medicine under the guidance of Dr. Andrew Weil. In February 2016, Dr. Leopold completed Duke University’s Leadership Program in Integrative Healthcare. Prior to its dissolution he was a Diplomate of the Academy of Integrative Pain Management. In 2022, Dr. Leopold successfully completed Board Certification with the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine. He also holds Certification in Culinary Medicine and was among the inaugural grauates of the AWCIM Cultivating Leaders in Academic Integrative Medicine program. Dr. Leopold has developed extensive curriculum for medical students, medical residents, nurse practitioners and fellows in Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine and the Human Dimension Longitudinal Course. He has authored and co-authored multiple chapters in various medical textbooks including Cancer Related Pain: Integrative Medical Approaches, Kelley’s Textbook of Rheumatology and Integrative Medicine in Palliative Care. Dr. Leopold lectures nationally on subjects related to Integrative Medicine including Integrative Pain Management, Integrative Cancer Care and Integrative Approaches to Cancer Survivorship. He has been a contributing author for multiple public media sources including Medscape, The San Diego Tribune, WebMD, OPTUM Health, Health U, Livingwell health and eHealth Medicare (both with approximately 75 million recipients nationwide). Dr. Leopold has also been featured on multiple radio shows, local news and Podcasts. Details are available on request.
