Diet is a powerful tool for managing GI disorders but with so many GI diets to choose from (histamine restricted, Low FODMAP, auto-immune protocol, low sucrose etc.), how does a clinician discern which dietary therapy is best for a particular patient? Navigating the nutritional therapy terrain can be challenging. In this session, we’ll review the latest science on therapeutic diets and illustrate through case reports the clinical finesse and skill required to appropriately match the diet to the patient’s presentation. A clinical roadmap of the distinguishing characteristics including the similarities and differences of these diets will be outlined.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain the process for applying an appropriate dietary intervention for select GI disorders.
- Describe the spectrum of therapeutic GI diets and their implementation to achieve symptom resolution.
- Demonstrate how integrative providers can personalize therapeutic GI diets through case reports.
